Ein Luftschutzkeller oder Luftschutzraum ist eine bauliche Anlage zum Schutz vor Luftangriffen im Kellergeschoss eines Gebäudes vor allem während des Zweiten Weltkriegs und des Kalten Kriegs, die nicht primär dem Luftschutz diente. The German garrison laid down arms having learnt that Berlin had surrendered 2 days before.
Along with Stalingrad, Budapest, Manila and Berlin, the siege stands out as one of the most heavily fought cases of urban combat during World War Two.
